He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Elling and Clara Elling (Koerkenmeier); his brother James Elling; and his nephew Nathan Elling. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Allen; his children, Michael Elling of Green Valley, Marsha Garlisch of Davenport and Marla Swanson (Tom) of Pekin; his grandchildren, Jenna Marie Garlisch (Sara), Austin Carter Elling (Brittani), Allie Jo Garlisch, Paige Swanson and Alexandra; and his siblings, Raymond Elling (Doris) of Carlyle, Irene Theising (Val) of Germantown, Margie Grapperhaus (Larry) of Pekin and Dorothy Cunningham (Joe) of Breese.
