He was predeceased by: his parents, Byrom Frederick and Frankie Stella Ward; his siblings, Byrom, Jack, Martha Rector and Marguerite Bond; and his grandson Joshua Gray.

He is survived by: his wife Dorothy; his children, Gary Ward (Linda), Debbie Gray (John) and Jean Dick (Dan); his grandchildren, Jake Ward (Jennifer), Jessica Roosevelt (Kyle) and Daniel Gray (Stephanie); and his great grandchildren, Kylee, Zeke, Bowen Roosevelt and Jack Robert Ward.
