He was predeceased by: his parents, John Higgins and Charlotte Higgins; his brothers, John and Donald Higgins; and his brother-in-law Dr. Hushang Javid.

He is survived by: his wife Marianne Higgins (Rose); his children, Robert Higgins (Kim), Christine Konopacki (Andrew), Marianne McDermott (Stephen) and Michael Higgins; and his grandchildren, Zackery Higgins (Melissa Olsen), Payton Higgins, Anastasia Gagliardi (Sam), Katya Vail (Chandler), Alek Konopacki, Andre Konopacki, Oliver Flagg, Aidan McDermott, Kenna McDermott and Theodore McDermott.
