He was predeceased by: his parents, Aart VanWingerden and Cora VanWingerden (Huizer); and his brothers, Bill and Tom VanWingerden. He is survived by: his wife Margie Kostellic; his children, Lenny, Jared, Nickolas, Jolene, Valerie and Mikayla; his grandchildren, Colton, Nicholas, Wyatt, Aleah, Will, Philip, Allan, Lily, Josie and Wells; and his siblings, Len, Case, Maryka, John, Lona, Joe, Arie, Rose, Rich, Bob, Art, Tina and Ken.

Visitation was held on Friday, January 24th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of LaSalle (200 24th St, La Salle, IL 61301). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Granville Cemetery.
