He was predeceased by: his parents, Rueben Lester and Alma Lester (Carr). He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Kay Garland of Patrick's Catholic Church; his children, Krista Buffington (Quincy), Katie Lester, Ramey Cook (Todd), Robin Guerrero (Gil) and Brian Lester (Mandy); and his siblings, Joanne Hardmeier (Jim) and Jerry Lester (Barb). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
