He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry and Susanna Waldschmidt (Giese); his brother Roy Waldschmidt; and his grandsons, David Bruhl and Richard Waldschmidt.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Waldschmidt of Granville; his children, Randell Waldschmidt of Jacksonville, FL, Robert "Waldo" Waldschmidt of Granville, Brett Waldschmidt of Granville and Brenda Bruhl of Port Charlotte, FL; his sister Emma Roelofs of Pueblo, CO; and his grandchildren, Robert Waldschmidt, Brandy Howes, Barry Waldschmidt and Veronica Waldschmidt. He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
