He was predeceased by: his parents, Otho Powell and Freddie Powell (Michaels). He is survived by: his wife Helen Powell of Granite City, IL; his children, Karlene Whitt (Alan) of Granite City, IL and Craig Powell (Amy) of Highland, IL; his sister Emily Taylor of Rosedale, CA; his grandchildren, Nathan Whitt, Ethan Whitt (Mariah), Brendan Whitt (Theresa), Allisan Whitt, Talen Powell, Carter Powell and Tinsley Powell; his great grandchild Henry Whitt; and his pets, Layla, Shanney, Daisey, Linda, Deuce, Charlotte and Toby. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, extended family.

Visitation was held on Friday, March 28th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, March 29th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Irwin Chapel (3960 Maryville Rd, Granite City, IL 62040). A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 29th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
