She was predeceased by: her parents, Everett Chastain Sr. and Gertrude Chastain (Kuelker); and her siblings, Gertrude Peters and Everett Chastain Jr.. She is survived by: her husband Charles Bernaix of Granite City, IL; her children, Darren Bernaix (Michelle), Maria Decker (Brian) and Matthew Bernaix; her siblings, Harold Chastain, Evelyn Hotson and Kathleen Debost; her grandchildren, Nicole Simpson (Bobby), Alyssa Ross (Derek) and Madison Chammess; and her great grandchildren, Kaylee Simpson, Maverick Simpson, Cole Simpson, Harper Williams and Hadley Ross. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 19th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Irwin Chapel (3960 Maryville Rd, Granite City, IL 62040). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 19th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery (2910 S State Rte 157, Edwardsville, IL 62025).
