She was predeceased by: her parents, George Paul and Eula Mae Richard (Hatchel); her husband Richard Lee Schmieg; her son-in-law James Rogers; and her siblings, Shirley Alvis, Brenda Owens, Doyle Richard, Chester Richard, Glendale "Dale" Richard, Darrell Carson, Robert Carson and Roger Carson.

She is survived by: her daughters, Sherri "Susie" Rogers of Granite City and Diane; her son-in-law Kerry Slayton of Granite City; her grandchildren, James Rogers III, Russell Manion Jr., Nicole, Justin Brown and Kerry "KJ" Slayton Jr.; her great grandchildren, Jada Rogers, Alex Rogers, James, Aleeza Manion, Richard Manion, Bailey Slayton and Hunter Brown; and her siblings, Ronnie Carson of Bernie, Missouri, Nora (Joe Fuemmeler) and Pam (Robert Gandt). She is also survived by many nieces; nephews; other extended family.
