He was predeceased by: his parents, James Audrey Burchyett and Fanny Marie Phillips Burchyett; his brothers, James Clifford Burchyett and Jerry Howard "Blue" Burchyett; his brother-in-law William Fitzpatrick; and his former wife Deloris Victoria Craig Burchyett.

He is survived by: his wife Peggy Bridgeman Burchyett; his sisters, Kathryn Wagner (Les) and Gracie Fitzpatrick; his sisters-in-law, Erline Burchyett and Mary Burchyett; his children, Christine Burchyett Brewer (Ross) of Lebanon, Steven Louis Burchyett (Mary) of Taylorsville and Jeffrey Lee Burchyett of Denver; his granddaughters, Sarah Burchyett Cowan (Matthew) of Louisville and Elisabeth Burchyett Brewer of St. Louis; his great grandchildren, Oscar Allen Brewer and Jaxson Matthew Cowan; his stepdaughters, Beverly Alms (Bruce), Laura Baltzell (John) and Tammy Chandler (Darrell); and his stepgrandchildren, Brice, Destiny Alms, Brooke, Adam Hudson, Holly Alexander, Doug Meade, Dustin, Matt and Andrew Chandler. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Don developed Alzheimer's disease about 10 years ago.
