With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Oliver Henry James of Goreville, Illinois, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 5, 2024 at the age of 86. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Oliver Henry James to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawerence James and Iva Mae James; and his daughter Sandra Gardner. He is survived by: his children, Allen James (Angela) of Goreville, Chris James (Debra) of Belknap and Denise Thompson (Jerry) of Buncombe; his grandchildren, Jeremy James (Heather) of Goreville, Cassie Jones (Edward) of Goreville, Jason Kraft (Lisa) of Charlotte and Garrett Garnder of Ohio; and his siblings, Harold James (Jeanette) of Marble Hill, Patty Choate VanMatre of Effingham and Charlotte "Jody" Stranger (Hal) of Santa Cruz. He is also survived by children and four step grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, December 9th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Busby Chapel Church (7715 IL-37, Goreville, IL 62939). A funeral service was held on Monday, December 9th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, December 9th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Busby Cemetery.
In lieu of customary remembrances the family requests with gratitude that memorial donations be directed to the Goreville Athletic Department.
