He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace Vandygriff and Catherine Vandygriff (Nolan); his siblings, Josephine "Mary" Vandygriff, Herman Vandygriff and John Vandygriff; and his daughter-in-law Lori Lynn Vandygriff.

He is survived by: his wife Nancy Lutz; his children, Stephanie Lalor (Matt) of East Alton, Mike Vandygriff of Jerseyville and Robert Vandygriff (Christie) of Alton; his grandchildren, Donald Vandygriff (Emily), Jamie Dapper (Jeff Ralph), Catherine Vandygriff, Amanda Lalor, Aspen Vandygriff, Steven Vandygriff and Serah Vandygriff; his great grandchildren, Cloud Vandygriff, Alexander Dierking, Thomas Dapper, Nola Dierking and Hunter Ralph; and his siblings, Catherine Vandygriff, Charlotte Vandygriff, Harry "Bud" Vandygriff, Joseph "Pat" Vandygriff and Wes Vandygriff. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and good friends.
