He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Groppel and Marie Groppel of Jerseyville; his parents-in-law, Earl, Evelyn Proctor, Clement and Helen Duello; his former wife Kathleen Groppel (Duello); and his siblings-in-law, Sue Duello, Sister Cecilianne Duello and Daniel Proctor.
He is survived by: his wife Janice Beachum Groppel of Godfrey; his sons, David Groppel (Karen) of Minnesota, Stephen Groppel (Cari) of Wisconsin, Kevin (Christina) of Ohio, Keith Groppel (Piper) of Indiana, Bruce Beachum (Debbie) and Mike Beachum (Alison); and his brother John Groppel (Judy) of Jerseyville. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home - Godfrey (1313 W Delmar Ave, Godfrey, IL 62035). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St Ambrose Catholic Church (820 W Homer M Adams Pkwy, Godfrey, IL 62035).
