He is survived by: his wife Marguerite Carter; his children, Mary Robinson (Todd) of Chesterfield, MO, Steven Carter (Debbie Droste) of Alton, IL, Gregory T. Carter (Linda Danielsson) of Sweden, Daniel Carter (Jennifer), Sara Carter-Witt (Lynn) and Patrick Carter (Jennifer) of Yorkville, IL; his grandchildren, Josie Robinson, Samuel, Amanda, Hope Carter, Luva Olsson, Xavier, Grace Carter, Nathan Brown (Peyton), SSgt Jacob Brown, David Witt, Erica Witt, Madeline and Benjamin Carter; his great grandchildren, Cecilia, Waylon, Will and Vivian; his sisters, Roberta Sievers of Alton and Sally McClain of Virginia; and his siblings-in-law, Marcy Carter of Alexandria, LA and Robert Klueg (Nancy) of Plainfield, IN. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
