She was predeceased by: her parents, John R. Hale and Maude Hale (Wallace); her husband George W. "Bill" Shake; her son Ronald C. Smith; and her sister Felicia Goeken.
She is survived by: her children, Venni Smith of Wood River and Dean William Shake of Alton; her stepchildren, Gwen, George Staab of Athens, Julie Shake of Los Angeles, Crystal, Rob Rall of Brandon, Jennifer and Greg Mouldon of Godfrey; and her daughter-in-law Sherri Smith of Godfrey. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and many other extended family.
