He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Mowrey and Mary Mowrey (Rathgeb); and his siblings, John Robert Mowrey, Ruth (Lloyd Harris) and Marilyn (Bud Harris).
He is survived by: his sons, James R. Jr. (Patty J. Mowrey) and Bob (Melissa Mowrey); his stepdaughter Cindy; his stepson-in-law Terry Zirkelbach of Brighton; his stepdaughter Dana; his stepson-in-law David Brantley of Godfrey; and his stepsons, Scott Simons of Alton and Stanley Simons of Godfrey. He is also survived by 21 grandkids.
