He was predeceased by: his wife Florence; and his brother Richard. He is survived by: his daughters, Carol Konvalinka (Greg Engberg) of Northbrook, Nancy Konvalinka (Luis Fernandez) of Madrid and Spain; his grandchildren, Christopher Schulkey, Claire Schulkey (Jessica Gebhard), Marcos Fernandez (Marta Granados) and Ana Fernandez (Alberto Hernandez); and his brother Edward. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
Due to COVID-19 considerations a private funeral Mass was celebrated at The Catholic Community of Northbrook/St. Norbert Parish and Our Lady of the Brook on January 29.
