He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Loretta Garvey; his children, Michael (Patti), Bernard, Jr. (Jenifer), Mary Beda (Bruce), Kenneth (Liz), Catherine Goldthorpe (John), Kevin (Barb), Sheila Gartland (Mark) and Daniel (Mary); his child-in-law Diane Garvey; his siblings, James Garvey, Mary Dunne, Margaret Rybak, John Garvey and Edward Garvey; his grandchildren, Amy, Shannon, William, Joseph, Audrey, Isabel Garvey, Justin (Victoria), Bridget, Abigale, George James (Rebecca), Jackson (Stephanie), Casey, Joanna Garvey, Edward, Luke Goldthorpe, Matthew, Tara, Kate Garvey, Colleen, Nora, John Gartland, Emmett, Brendan and Colin Garvey; and his great grandchild Sloane James.
