He was predeceased by: his parents, Edmund Archer and Fern Archer; and his brother Thomas. He is survived by: his wife Janet; and his siblings, Mary, Nick, Peggy, Joe and Julie. He is also survived by his children and grandchildren.

“We are incredibly saddened to hear of Mr. Archer’s passing. To Ginger and the entire family, we want you all to know how incredibly grateful we are for all of his tireless work to bring girls’ soccer to Glenbard West and to grow the game for all girls in the area! Our daughter, Gwenyth Johnson, played for Ginger, went on to play at West, and then had the privilege of winning the John Archer Girls Soccer Scholarship her senior year which was just so special. We will share the story of his legacy.”
