Donald Stanley Pankros Obituary

Donald Stanley Pankros, 82, of Glen Ellyn, IL went to be with the Lord on Friday August 11, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in 1941 in Chicago to the late Chester and Matilda (Drabek) Pankros.

Don graduated from St. Philip Basilica High School in 1959. He was a pharmacy major at Purdue University graduating in 1963. He was proud of being a registered pharmacist and worked his entire career in pharmacy in various capacities; Walgreens, Eli Lilly, Pharmacia Laboratories, R.W. Greeff and VA Hines Hospital.

Survived by his beloved wife Sheila (Kennedy) Pankros for over 41 years: loving father of D. Joel (Marceline) Pankros, David Pankros (Dr. Julie Wei), loving grandfather of Grace, Aiden and Claire Pankros; dear brother to Paul (Carol) Pankros and Dennis (Joyce) Pankros, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Don enjoyed the outdoors, hunting with his black lab, Thunder, and fishing. He loved telling the story about the eagle at Big Lake who always recognized his boat and waited for him to throw him a fish. He loved his country but was disturbed in the direction it's going. He loved his home. Don said prayers every night for his loved ones. He was a kind man.

Celebration of Life is Saturday September 2, 2023. Gathering at 10:00 a.m. followed by a 10:30 a.m. mass at St. James the Apostle Church 480 S. Park Blvd. Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. James the Apostle Church or lovingly spending quality time with the sick and home bound.
