He was predeceased by: his parents, Early Brooks Cottrell and Sadie Cottrell (Andrews); his wife Carol Bozarth; and his siblings, Charles "Chuck" Cottrell, Harry Cottrell and Erma Beide.
He is survived by: his children, Kelly Cottrell (Claudia Fulshaw) of Durham, NC and Chris Cottrell (Kim) of Edwardsville, IL; his grandchildren, Danielle Barber (Isaac) of Ft. Wayne, IN and Joseph Cottrell of St. Louis, MO; and his great grandchildren, Urijah Barber and Eden Barber. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to New Bethel United Methodist Church or Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.
