He was predeceased by: his parents, John R. Janssen and Jean G. Janssen (Dornberger); his brother Virgil; and his sister-in-law Iola Janssen. He is survived by: his children, John Janssen (Kelli) and Sharon Phelps; his brother Arlan Janssen (Martie); his grandchildren, Nick Janssen (Colleen), Eric Janssen, Scott Worms (Sammie), Brent Janssen (Melissa) and Stacy Worms (Tyler McMahan); his stepgrandchildren, Kyle Smith (Anne) and Nikki Waite (Josh); his great grandchildren, Oliver, Finley, Penny, Avery, Quinn Janssen, Shaylee and Adley Worms; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Ben, Ava Waite, Walter and Juliana Smith. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund or OSF Hospice.
