He was predeceased by: his parents, Amos Schafer and Marie Schafer (Schnellbacher); and his brother Gene Schafer. He is survived by: his wife Sheila J. Tibbs (Whitehurst); his sons, Kurt Schafer (Tammy) and John Schafer (Cassie); his grandchildren, Anthony, Austin, Delaney and Grace; his great grandchild Andrew Montecalvo; and his siblings, Ken Schafer (Sherrill), Bruce Schafer (Lauretta), Linda Dove (Malcolm) and LuEllen Schafer.
