He was predeceased by: his parents, James Hartford and Leone Knapp Hartford; his wife Joyce Robb; and his brother Bill Hartford. He is survived by: his siblings, Thomas Hartford of Gibson City and Suzanne Martensen (Robert) of Bayles Lake, Loda.; his nieces, Kathryn Martensen (Brent Rasmus) of Champaign, Julie Martensen (Jason Colwell) of Chicago and Heather O'Donnell of Skokie; his great-nephews, Elliott Colwell, Lennox Colwell, Jamison Rasmus and Lucas Rasmus; and his cousins, Jack Hartford, Jill Hartford and Bob Kennedy.
