He was predeceased by: his parents, Gustav O. Watter and Elly Watter (Schaffer). He is survived by: his wife Beth Smith of German Valley, IL; his sons, David Heinz Watter (Melissa) of German Valley, IL, Timothy Brandon Watter (Jodi) of Freeport, IL and Niklaus Robert Watter of German Valley, IL; and his siblings, Dieter Watter (Carol) of Florida, Eric Watter (Kathy) of Freeport, IL and Ruth Hattula of Freeport, IL. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial has been established in Klaus' memory.
