Daniel Oakes Obituary

Daniel L. Oakes, age 67 of Georgetown, Illinois, passed away at 8:28 p.m. Monday, July 5, 2010 at his home. He was an auto body repairman for several dealerships in Danville, Illinois before 1981 when he became owner and operator of his own business, Oakes Collision Repair in Georgetown, Illinois. He was a member of St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Georgetown, Illinois.

Mr. Oakes was born May 19, 1943 in Louisville, Kentucky to Noah G. and Mary C. (Boone) Oakes. He married Betsy (Englum) Oakes July 30, 1977 in Paris, Illinois and she survives. Other survivors include his mother Mary C. Oakes of Danville, Illinois, his children; Angie Marie Oakes of Amarillo, Texas, Jonathan Daniel (Leslie) Oakes of Fremont, North Carolina, and Matthew Allen Oakes of Byhalia, Mississippi, six grandchildren; Ali and Michael Longbine of Amarillo, Texas, Daniel Lane and Jackson Riley Oakes of Fremont, North Carolina, and Chase and Gracie Parsons of Fremont, North Carolina, nine siblings; Linda (Dean) Ballard of Paris, Illinois, Pat (Ernie) Cash of Danville, Illinois, Gary (Darlene) Oakes of Westville, Illinois, Becky (Keith) Kraemer of Paris, Illinois, Gerald "Butch" (Lynette) Oakes of Freemont, Nebraska, Janet (Larry) Cash of Danville, Illinois, Sheila (George) Haworth of Ridge Farm, Illinois, Debbie Whitlaw of Melrose Park, Illinois, and Tim (Darling) Oakes of Oakwood, Illinois.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2010 in Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home, Paris, Illinois with wake prayer services at 2:00 p.m. Sunday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2010 in St. Marys Catholic Church in Paris, Illinois with Rev. Fr. David Zimmerman officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Paris, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Carter Ketner Memorial Fund in care of Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home, 303 E. Wood St., Paris, IL 61944.
