He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Mayer and Nora Mayer (Rosenbarger); his sister Faye Mallory; and his son Tom. He is survived by: his wife Mary (Slaymaker); his children, Linda Abernethy (Scott) of West Chicago, Andrew Mayer (Lillian) of Geneva and Amy Mayer (Davin Wickstrom) of Geneva; his daughter-in-law Cynthia Mayer of North Carolina; and his grandchildren, Ben Popovich (Heidi), Caroline Oldham (Jeff), Jake Abernethy, Kelly Berardi (Peter), Alexander Mayer and Nathaniel Wickstrom.
