He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Richard Carl Dienst and Marie Dienst (Sedgewick); and his siblings, Carl and Sally. He is survived by: his wife Judy (Simpson); his children, Bruce Dienst (Kristie) and Julie McMillin; his grandchildren, Ryan McMillin (Lauren), Heather Steinman (David), Kurtis Spurgin and Kendal Spurgin; and his great grandchildren, Maisie, Connor, Isla McMillin and Harper Steinman. He is also survived by relatives and friends.

He was also President of the Casting Industry Suppliers Association and a Trustee in the Foundry Educational Foundation.
