He was predeceased by: his mother Bernadine Rink (Hoogerwerf); his wife Janet Rink; his granddaughter Ashley Merritts (Rink); and his brother Allan Rink. He is survived by: his children, Scott Rink (Diane) of Marion, IA, Jennifer O'Toole (Mike) of Grayslake, IL, Jill Domescik-Rink (Tami) of Auburn, IL and Brad Rink (Kenny Lawrence) of Cape Town; his siblings, John Rink of Silvis, IL and Jane Murphy (Mike) of Atkinson, IL; his grandchildren, Taylor Rink, Alex Rink (Chelsea), Hillary, Erin O'Toole, McKenzi and Emma Domescik-Rink; and his great grandchildren, Manning, Madden, Benjamin and Ashlynn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in his name to the American Alzheimer's Association.
