She was predeceased by: her parents, Martin Tomsic and Myrtle Tomsic (Cole); her husband Duane Burnett; her brother Donald "Sonny" Tomsic; and her grandson Jacob Cahoon.
She is survived by: her children, Laurie Cahoon (Michael) of Salado, TX, Rebecca Schmoll (Timothy) of Cambridge, IL and Catherine Burnett of Geneseo, IL; her brother John Tomsic (Patricia) of Kewanee, IL; her sister-in-law Betty Tomsic of Wethersfield, IL; her grandchildren, Jarret Schmoll (Ashton), Lacey Billiet, Haley Conway (Kyle) and Nathan Cahoon; and her great grandchildren, Liam Schmoll, Evelyn Schmoll, Teigan Billiet, Emery Conway and Saige Conway.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the First Methodist Church (302 N State St, Geneseo, IL 61254). A memorial service was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Rutabaga Arts, in honor of Shirley.
