He is survived by: his children, James Flaherty (Bobbi) of Geneseo and Pamela Thorpe (Tim) of Marion, IL; his grandchildren, Jenny Allen (Nathan), Madison Clark (Nolan), Jamie Vincent and Dan Bubon; and his sister Lauralee Flaherty (Howard Rechtschaffen). He is also survived by four great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
