We are sad to announce that on September 14, 2022, at the age of 92, Janice LaVon Nelson of Geneseo, Illinois, born in Sterling, Illinois passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Hilmer Smith and Gladys Smith (Olson); her husband Willard Nelson; her daughter Christine Nelson; and her sister Sylvia Hanford.

She is survived by: her children, Bill Nelson (Theresa) of Geneseo, Thomas Nelshoppen (Joan) of Urbana and Jane Alexander (Steve) of Geneseo; her brother Jim Smith of San Diego, CA; and her grandchildren, Joe Nelson, Scott Nelson, David Alexander, Edward Alexander, Brian Alexander, Dylan Nelshoppen and Olivia Nelshoppen. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
