He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Cathelyn and Louise Cathelyn (Doubler); his wife Joan Heirbrandt; his son Rick Cathelyn; and his brother Wilbur Cathelyn.
He is survived by: his son Gary Cathelyn of Geneseo, IL; his daughter-in-law Cindi Cathelyn of Geneseo, IL; his grandchildren, Ryan Cathelyn (Abbey) of Atkinson, IL, Nicole Rowold (Eric) of Geneseo, IL and Kelli Cathelyn (John Humphrey) of Charleston, SC; and his great grandchildren, Ryley, Ida, Lillian Rowold, Juniper Cathelyn and Kane Fuelling.
A rosary was held on Thursday, April 3rd 2025 at 4:30 PM at the Vandemore Funeral Home - Geneseo (580 E Ogden Ave, Geneseo, IL 61254). Visitation was held on Thursday, April 3rd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Friday, April 4th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St. Malachy Catholic Church (595 E Ogden Ave, Geneseo, IL 61254).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Francis Cathelyn Memorial Fund, to be dispersed amongst local charities.
