He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred and Alice Johnson (Edwards); his wife Joan Tomlinson; and his son Tom. He is survived by: his children, Alice Marshall (Neil), Tami Jones (Brian) and Tim Johnson (Betty); his grandchildren, Sam Marshall (Erin), Josh Marshall (Chanel), Lauren Johnson, Kate Yundt (Andrew) and Blake Johnson (Nina); his great grandchildren, Chase and Olivia Marshall; and his daughter-in-law Lori Johnson.
