It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Thomas Jay Torbert of Galva, Illinois, born in Peoria, Illinois, who passed away on March 5, 2023, at the age of 42, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his grandparents, John, Francine Torbert, Eugene and Dorothy Thomson; his aunts, Sherry Thomson and Diane Stone; his uncle Dave Brown; and his cousins, Shanna Thomson and Nathan Torbert.
He is survived by: his parents, John Torbert III (Sue) of Nekoma and Linda Torbert of Galva; his wife Kelly (Townsend); his son Skylar of Galva; his siblings, Neil Schmitzer-Torbert (Wendy) of Crawfordsville and Hannah Torbert (Zach Wagner) of Bishop Hill; and his stepbrother Jason Rice of Toulon. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephew.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Tom Torbert memorial fund, to be used to support Tom's family, and also to give back to the local community.
