He was predeceased by: his parents, Dale B. Whitman and Betty Nelle Whitman (Massingill); his grandfather Walter Massingill (Vivian); his mother-in-law Catherine Bohannon; his brother-in-law Don Stoddard; and his grandson Aiden Allen Shappard.
He is survived by: his wife Betty L. Stoddard; his children, Laura K. Warner (Matt) of Sherrard, IL, Stacy Whitman of Connecticut, Kenny Whitman (Athena) of Washington State, Tony Shappard of Galva and Levi Herr (Shanna) of Galva; his grandchildren, Echo Marchbank of Chicago, Abram of Sherrard, Marshall Warner of Sherrard, Kaylyn Whitman of Washington State, Joslyn Adamek (Curtis) of Washington State, Trent Zucati of Washington State, Beth Shappard (Jesus) of Kewanee, Rainah Shappard (Anna) of Galva, Ana Belle Shappard of Eureka and Sean Shappard of Eureka; his great grandchild Rosa Ana Marie Carral of Kewanee; his siblings, Becky Sipes (Bob) of Hudson, IL, Dr. Ray Whitman (Brenda) of Jasonville, IN, Kevin Whitman (Sharon) of Derby, KS, Randy Whitman (Terry) of Champaign, IL, Paul Whitman (Teresa) of Lakeview, OR and Tom Whitman (Liz) of Beavercreek, OH; and his close friend Doug Carlson (Sue) of Galva.
