He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Goodson and Ida Mae Goodson (Triplett). He is survived by: his children, Donald E. Trammell of Detroit, Rev. Tammie Miller (James) of Galesburg and Rev. Kimberly Bonds (Calvin) of Galesburg; his grandchildren, James McDonald, DeMarcus Haynes, Blair Haynes, Virginia Miller, Sherilynn Riggs, Mattison Jackson and Kymorrah Jackson; his close friend Gene Berry of Georgia; and his siblings, Annie Laura Walker, Lessie Mobley, Rosetta Cumming, Jean Goodson, Clarence Goodson, Jr., Betty Mae Holmes, Willie James Goodson, Kenneth Goodson, Rosemary McCraney, Frances Roberson and Joyce Theodore.

Memorials may be made to the Second Baptist Church.
