He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Swedlund and Lillian Swedlund; and his wife E. Joyce Swedlund (Nelson). He is survived by: his children, Jim Swedlund (Karen) of Monmouth, Joe Swedlund (Terry) of Allen, Kathleen Perry of Elgin and Angela Frank (Doug) of St. Charles, Illinois.. He is also survived by 5 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, and 7 great-grandchildren.
