He was predeceased by: his parents, James Hocking and Anastasia Hocking (Alderson); and his siblings, Darlene Bergeron of Roscoe, IL, Alice Smith of Freeport, IL, Shirley Harris of New Diggings, Wesley "Jim" Hocking of Hazel Green, WI, Jane Alderson of Benton, WI and Phyllis Speaker of Menominee, IL..

He is survived by: his wife Norma Jean Hocking; and his children, Mike Hocking (Cheri) of Keosauqua, IA, Rick Hocking (Mary) of Galena, IL, Kathy Hocking (Lauren) of Oviedo, FL, Pat Hocking (Melissa) of Lisbon, IA and Jeanna Gunning (Chris) of Ashland, KY. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque in memory of Bill.
