He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Irene Kirby-Nallen; his children, Lisa Heene (Michael) and Michael (Maria); his stepchildren, William John Kirby (Yvette Kirby), James Austin Kirby (Kathryn Ryder-Kirby), Robert Sean Kirby (Chrissy Kirby) and Maria Olga Kirby (Scott Reierstad); his siblings, James Nallen (late Charlotte), Thomas Nallen and John Nallen; his grandchildren, Ryan, Shawn, Michael, Ashley, Brendan, Robert Sean Kirby, Madeleine Anne Kirby, Sean William Kirby, Lauren Paige Kirby, William Miles Kirby, Allison Marie Kirby, Kirsten Nicole Kirby, Emily Grace Reierstad, Andrew James Kirby and Lucas John; his parents, James Nallen and Hazel Nallen; and his siblings, Dorothy Flavin (late Patrick), Elizabeth Nallen, Joan Blasi (late Michael) and Michael Nallen (Linda).
