He is survived by: his former wife Connie Copeland; his wife Sue Simmons (Neuhaus); his children, Emily (Noah Ottenhausen), Amanda (Joe Link), Nathan (Paige Scharpf) and Travis Coffman (Brittany); his grandchildren, Nevaeh, Ella, Noelle Ottenhausen, Jackson, Nolan, Kaden Link, Weston, Natalie Coffman, Ridley, Brayson and Rylan Simmons; his siblings, Margo Dworak and Tim Simmons (Lori); his brother-in-law Mike McClain; and also, Dan, Mark, Tim, Paul and Penny (Ted McLaughlin).

Instead of flowers, donations may be sent to the Mayo Clinic Oncology Department in Rochester, MN, or the Mike Simmons Fire Service Training Fund set up at Apple River State Bank.
