She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Ames and Catherine Ames (Reimenapp); her husband Vincent S. Schmitt; her son Steven; her grandsons, Jason and Ryan Vincent Schmitt; and her parents-in-law, Marge Beadle (Allen), Rita Pillard (Dick), Melvin Schmitt (Marion) and Albert Schmitt (Betty).
She is survived by: her children, Darlene Leifker (Terry) of Galena, David Schmitt (Roxie) of DeWitt, IA, Donnie Schmitt (Doris) of Galena, Jerry Schmitt (Rita) of Coon Rapids, MN, Mary Drapeau (Mike) of Bellevue, IA and Dawn DeValk (Dean) of Princeton, MN; her daughter-in-law Annette Schmitt of East Dubuque; and her siblings, Marion Fleege (Harold), Barbara Splinter (Virgil), Rosie Schulting (Jim) and Fritz Ames (Pat). She is also survived by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, a private funeral mass will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Galena.
