LaVerne J. Martelle Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of LaVerne J. Martelle (Galena, Illinois), born in Harpers Ferry, Iowa, who passed away on June 5, 2024, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Leo "Jake" Martelle and Elizabeth Lenore "Bessie" Mathias; his wife Margie Lew Martelle (Kramer); his siblings, Mary "Eileen" Sutter, Marlene Miller, Sharron, Frances, Clifton and Raymond; his in-laws, Joseph Sutter, Ira "Bill" Dement, Frank Miller, Eldon Wilwert, Gilda Schmidt Martelle and Darlene "Tyke" Frith Martelle; and his children-in-law, Kathy Martelle and Robert Gurries.
He is survived by: his children, Dr. Guy Martelle, Cindy Martelle, Tammy Martelle, Craig (Wendy) and J. D.; his grandchildren, Melissa Holt (Brian), Amiee Schoenhaar (Chad), Angela Martelle (Asfar Rizvi) and Kyle Martelle (Sarah); his great grandchildren, Cheyanne Hoffman (Glenn), Tristan, Trent, Chad (Junior), Zachary, Makenzie, Lochlan, Maya and Zoya; his great great grandchild Logan; and his siblings, Genevieve Dement (Jennie), Dorothy Wilwert, Jeanne Schonhoff (Don), Susan Martelle and Chuck Martelle (Barb). He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
