She was predeceased by: her parents, Mervil "Cotton" and Mary Adele Peacock (Bailey); her husband Harry Berning of Galena; her son James Berning; her grandson Doug Berning; and her siblings-in-law, Rita Heim (Al), Marie Busch (Arnie), Elma Berning and Wayne Stovall.
She is survived by: her children, Mary Cross (Andy) of Missoula, MT, Steve Berning (Cathy) of Warrenville, IL, Robert Berning (Mary) of Galena, Joseph Berning (Chris) of Galena, Ron Berning (Janine) of Galena and Daniel Berning of Gardena, CA; and her sister Colleen Stovall of Villa Grove, IL.. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
