Colleen McCarthy Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Colleen McCarthy of Galena, Illinois, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 17, 2025. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, George Tranel and Sophie Tranel (Stoffregen); her husband Edward "Bitsy" McCarthy of Mary's Catholic Church; her sons-in-law, Ron Hodnett and David Schleicher; her brothers, Robert and LeRoy Tranel; and her sisters-in-law, Margaret and Marie Tranel.
She is survived by: her children, Cynthia Hodnett of Ramona, CA, Michael McCarthy (Joanne) of Ramona, CA, Joyce Merriman (Alan) of Bluffs, IL, Donna Schleicher of Galena, Nancy Schneider (Frank) of San Carlos, CA, Cheryl McCarthy (Ron Rodriguez) of Pittsburg, CA and James McCarthy (Paula Shwaiko) of Grayslake; and her sister-in-law Sharon McCarthy. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 24th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Mary's Catholic Church (400 Franklin St, Galena, IL 61036). A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 24th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
Instead of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to Midwest Senior Care Center or Hospice of Dubuque.
