She was predeceased by: her parents, Francis Ortscheid and Ethel Ortscheid (Fiedler); her husband Reginald J. "Bud" Smith Jr. of Michael's Catholic Church; her stepmother Hazel Ortscheid (Marsden); and her siblings, Donald, Paul and Doris Anne.
She is survived by: her children, Terry Smith (Mari) of Roscoe, IL, Paula DeLong of Coal Valley, IL, Dan of East Dubuque, IL, Anne Marie Merrick (Garth) of Rock Island, Martha Harsch (Jeff) of Winterset, IA and Jennifer Tranel (Dan) of Cuba City, WI; and her sister-in-law Miriam Ortscheid. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church, Midwest Medical Center Auxiliary and Hospice of Dubuque in her memory.
