He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert H. Dietz and Lucille C. Dietz (Biermann); and his siblings, Barbara Jo Turner, Thomas Allen Dietz and Robert John Dietz.

He is survived by: his sisters, Trish Shear (Dave) of Fulton and Kathy Hamm (Rod) of Fulton; and his siblings-in-law, Judy Dietz of Decatur, IL and Robert Turner of Fulton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
