He was predeceased by: his wife Janice R. Decker; and his sisters, Mary Hoyer and Geraldine Bruckman. He is survived by: his children, Tami Leavens (Bart) of Clinton, IA, James Ottens (Mary) of Fulton, IL, Dennis Ottens (Dawn Smith) of Fulton, IL and Michael Ottens (Sue) of Fulton, IL; his grandchildren, Amanda Ottens, Danielle Malone (Patrick), Thomas Ottens, Elizabeth Ottens, Dennis Ottens II and Heather Powell (Matt); and his siblings, Donna Smith (Bud) of Sabula, IA, Sandra Johnson (Mike) of Cordova, IL and Phil Ottens (Wendy). He is also survived by four great grandchildren.
A memorial has been established to Clinton Humane Society.
