He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas R. Cullen and Frances Cullen (Marshall). He is survived by: his husband David Melester; his daughter Lori Cullen (Diana Livesay-Cullen); his grandchildren, Deirdre Lahre, Olivia Wilkens, Alexander Lahre and Riley Lahre; his brother Terry Cullen (Gail); his cousins, Steven (Sue Connell) and Colleen (Randy Griswold); his parents-in-law, Chad Melester, Christina Brokhausen (Dennis), Trisha Tapken and Thomas Melester (Racheal); and his nieces and nephews, McKenzie Brokhausen and Casey Brokhausen. He is also survived by 4 great-nephews and 2 great-nieces.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his memory.
