It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard J. Holbert of Freeport, Illinois, who passed away on February 28, 2022, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, James Holbert and Louella Holbert (Kortemeier); his wife Carol Holbert; and his brother-in-law Richard T. Moll. He is survived by: his close friend Judy Cassidy; his sister Mary Lou Moll; his children, Julie Abels (Mel), Scott Holbert, Meri Sizemore (Greg), Molly Plum (Joel) and Charlie Holbert; his grandchildren, Lori Scharenbroich (Luke), Melissa Briggs (Dean), Jennifer Vinnedge (Josh), James Holbert, Jenessa Anderson (Matt), Eric Huenefeld (Crystal), Emily Olp (Eric), Heather Plum, Brooke Plum (Keegan Vanderhyden) and Maggie Plum; his nephews, Kirk and Keith Moll; his niece Debbie Oppold (Bill); his great-nephews, Kyle and Kevin Oppold; his great-niece Rachel Williams (Ryan); and also, Tom Cassidy (Nadine), Juli Schmerse (Tom), Kevin Cassidy (Kristie) and Mike Cassidy (Kim).

A memorial fund has been established in his name.
